Privacy Policy

Molog is a personal diary app designed to help you record memories using calendar entries, photos, videos, drawings, mood, weather, location, tags, and diary text. Your privacy is important to us.

1. Information Molog Stores

Molog may store the following information that you choose to add:

• Diary text
• Photos, videos, and drawings
• Media tags
• Mood, weather, and other custom status entries
• The place description that you select for an entry
• Calendar dates linked to your diary entries

This information is stored locally on your device in Molog's SQLite database and app storage. Premium users may also choose to back up this information to their private iCloud container as described below.

2. How We Use Your Information

Molog uses your information to provide app features, including:

• Showing diary entries in the calendar and timeline
• Displaying photos, videos, drawings, tags, mood, weather, and selected places
• Filtering diary entries by media tag
• Ranking nearby-place suggestions when you request them
• Creating and restoring an optional iCloud backup
• Creating shareable diary cards when you choose to share
• Showing advertising and managing your advertising choices

3. Camera, Photos, Videos, And Drawing

Molog may ask for access to your camera, microphone, or photo library so you can capture or add photos and videos to diary entries. Molog may request photo-library read access to select existing media and add access to save media you choose to export. Media added to an entry is saved in Molog's local app storage and may be included in an optional iCloud backup.

Videos are limited to a maximum duration of 15 seconds.

4. Location And Place Suggestions

When you use nearby-place suggestions, Molog requests access to your precise current location while you are using the app. The location is used to rank place suggestions near you. Apple's MapKit processes the place-search request and returns matching suggestions.

Molog stores only the place description you select for your diary entry and a local cache used by the map interface. Molog does not provide your precise device location or diary location to Google Mobile Ads. Google may independently estimate a device's coarse location, such as a city or general area, from its IP address when serving ads.

5. Advertising And Third Parties

Molog uses the Google Mobile Ads SDK to display ads and the Google User Messaging Platform SDK to request and manage advertising privacy choices where required. Depending on your consent, device settings, and applicable law, Google may provide personalized or non-personalized ads. Personalized ads may use activity and identifiers to make ads more relevant. Non-personalized ads are based mainly on contextual information and may still use limited identifiers for purposes such as frequency capping, aggregated reporting, security, and fraud prevention.

The Google Mobile Ads SDK may collect or process an IP address and IP-derived coarse location, device or app identifiers, advertising identifiers where permitted, ads viewed and ad interactions, app interactions, crash logs, diagnostics, and performance information. Google and its advertising partners process this information for ad delivery, measurement, analytics, security, and fraud prevention under their own privacy terms.

On iOS, Molog may request permission through Apple's App Tracking Transparency framework before accessing the Identifier for Advertisers (IDFA) or tracking your activity across other companies' apps and websites. If you deny tracking permission, the Google Mobile Ads SDK does not receive the IDFA from Molog's ad request. You may still receive non-personalized or otherwise limited ads.

Molog does not use your diary text, photos, videos, drawings, mood, weather, tags, selected place descriptions, or precise device location to personalize ads. Molog does not sell your diary content.

6. Advertising Privacy Choices

Where the Google privacy options form is required, you can reopen it from Molog's Settings by selecting Ad Privacy Choices. You can use that form to review or change the advertising consent choices made through Google User Messaging Platform. You can also manage Google's broader ad-personalization settings through Google My Ad Center.

You can review Molog's tracking permission at any time in iOS Settings under Privacy & Security > Tracking. Turning tracking off prevents Molog from accessing the IDFA for cross-app tracking, but does not remove all advertising or prevent Google from processing data needed to deliver non-personalized or limited ads.

7. iCloud Backup

Premium users may choose to back up Molog's complete SQLite diary database and associated media files. A backup is stored in the user's private iCloud container and is available only through the user's Apple Account and Molog. Creating a new successful backup replaces the previous Molog backup; Molog does not keep a version history of earlier backups.

Deleting a diary entry on your device does not change an existing iCloud backup until you create a new backup. Restoring an older backup may therefore restore an entry that was deleted locally after that backup was created.

To delete the iCloud backup, open Molog's Settings > iCloud Backup screen and select Delete iCloud Backup. You may also review or delete Molog's stored iCloud data through iOS Settings > [your name] > iCloud > Manage Account Storage > Molog, where available. Turning off iCloud access or deleting the app from the device does not by itself guarantee that an existing Molog iCloud backup is deleted.

8. Permissions

Molog requests permissions only when they are needed for a feature. You can deny or later change permissions in iOS Settings, although the related feature may then be unavailable.

• Camera: capture photos or videos for diary entries.
• Microphone: record audio while capturing a video.
• Photo library read/add: select existing media and save media you choose to export.
• Location while using the app: rank nearby-place suggestions.
• Notifications: deliver diary reminders or other app-related alerts you enable.
• Tracking: allow access to the IDFA and cross-app tracking for advertising, subject to Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt.

9. Purchases

Premium purchases are processed by Apple through StoreKit and the App Store. Molog receives purchase status and transaction information needed to unlock or restore premium features, but does not receive or store your payment-card information. Apple's handling of purchase information is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.

10. Sharing

Molog includes a share feature. When you tap the share button, you choose what to share using Apple's system sharing tools. Molog does not share your diary entries automatically. The receiving app or service handles information you choose to share under its own privacy terms.

11. Retention And Deletion

Diary entries and media remain on your device until you delete them or delete the app and its data. When you delete a diary entry inside Molog, the entry and its related locally stored media are removed from the app's local storage. Deleting the app normally removes its local data according to iOS behavior; offloading the app may retain documents and data.

Local deletion and iCloud-backup deletion are separate. Deleting an entry locally does not delete it from an existing backup, and deleting the app does not necessarily delete its private iCloud backup. To remove the backup, follow the deletion steps in the iCloud Backup section above.

Google retains and deletes advertising data according to its own policies and your Google ad settings. To reopen Molog's Google consent choices, use Settings > Ad Privacy Choices in Molog.

12. Children's Privacy

Molog is intended for users aged 13 and older. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. A user who is at least 13 but below the age at which they can legally consent to data processing in their country should use Molog only with permission from a parent or legal guardian.

We do not knowingly use children's diary content for advertising. If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child under 13 has provided personal information through Molog, contact us so we can review the situation and help identify available deletion steps.

13. Security

Molog relies on iOS device security and app sandboxing to protect locally stored data. Optional backups rely on iCloud security and the user's Apple Account. No storage or transmission method can be guaranteed to be completely secure. You are responsible for protecting access to your device and Apple Account, such as by using a passcode, Face ID, Touch ID, and two-factor authentication.

14. Changes To This Policy

We may update this privacy policy when Molog's features or data practices change. The updated version will show a new "Last updated" date.
